Ceiling Fan Wiring Help

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on electrical fan wiring.

I want to replace an old non remote control ceiling fan with a new remote control ceiling fan. The existing wiring coming from the ceiling is a green, blue, white, and black wire.

The top of the "new" ceiling fan has the same green, blue, white, and black wires. This is where I'm getting confused. However, the remote control receiver has a blue, white, and black wire on one side and a white a red wire on the other side.

Please let me know if the following is correct:
1. Connect the following wires from the "top of the fan" to the "receiver"; white to white, black to black, and blue to blue. Is this correct?
2. I'm confused on what to do with the red and white wires from the receiver and the existing wires in the ceiling. Am I supposed to connect the red wire (receiver) to the black wire in the ceiling? I thought I read that in instructions but not sure if understanding correctly.
3. Does the white wire (from receiver) connect to the existing white wire in the ceiling?
4. I assume the green wire in the top of the fan connects directly to the green wire in the ceiling. Is this correct?
5. What about the existing blue wire in the ceiling? Is this supposed to be used because it currently is being used right now with the existing ceiling fan thats still there. What should I do with this blue wire?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Didn't the new fan come with instructions ?
It looks like the white, blue and black from the remote goes to the fan.
The red and white goes towards the ceiling and power.

Now... you've got some issues there. It appears that you do not have any junction box there and that the fan is screwed thru the ceiling. How do you plan on accessing the wiring ? It looks like someone just shoved the wires thru a hole in the ceiling. You'll probably find exposed wire splices in the attic.

Welcome.
I wouldn't recommend you keep the wires coming out of the ceiling like that.
It looks like someone previously took a short cut and ran cable directly from switch to fan with no wiring box.

Here's the box you need:

It can be inserted from below once proper size hole is cut.

They may have ran wire the way they did to center fan in room (avoid ceiling joists).
Still, it's unacceptable and unsafe.
