Wire outlet between switch and light
This seems really simple but I can't get it to work. Power comes into the overhead light which runs to a switch. All wired with 14-2. I want to put an outlet between the switch and the light that is powered all the time. Do I need to run 14-3 instead of the 14-2 that's there already? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Won't work you don't have a neutral. the white wire is not a neutral. Yes, you need to change to 14-3 (or 12-3 if 20 amp breaker). The red and black will be your switch loop. Traditionally black will be your constant hot to receptacle and switch. Red will be switched hot back to the light. Under 2011 NEC the neutral can't stop at the receptacle. It must continue on to the light and be capped off for future possible use if not needed.
