Question Christmas LED light strings?

Several years ago I welded up some 1/4" rods into Christmas figures, and use the normal light strings. Some are over 6-feet tall.

Now I am removing these old light strings in favor of LED strings.

My question is:

I space the lights evenly, so when I come to the end of my figures, what do I do with the extra lights?, can I cut the ends off and dead end? In the past I just wadded them up and covered with a black plastic bag, but never really like that method.

Comments are most welcome, please.

As far as I know the LED count on a string of LED lights is critical and you cannot just cut spares off. You may have to wrap them heavier around your project or use the black bag method again.

Thanks PJ, and maybe someone heavy into Christmas lights can advise what they do with the extra bulbs at the end.

Thanks,
