Quick ceiling fan Fixture brace question
Hello,
I am going to be using a Steel City New construction Fan/Fixture Brace.
It is rated for 70 lbs up to 24" span. I have access to attic. The hole is maybe 2 inches away from a joist. My question is once I put the brace on, I would have to move the Metal box almost the whole way over to one side. Is this okay to do? Or are they suppose to be in the middle of the brace? Wasn't sure if it would be too much on one side and cause an issue. Thanks in advance

Awesome thanks. Only really i even asked is because in the direction paper that comes with it, It says to make sure the box is anywhere within where the two expansions overlap. It wouldnt contribute to any wobble either, would it? thanks

I would still try to keep the box close to a joist. The only way you could catch the section where they overlap is right in the middle and that's not going to happen.

Thanks a lot. That is what I will do. Just was a little worried if it would mess anything up. Balance or anything. I was considering doing the fan box that just attaches on the side of a joist and just add 2x4 until it was lined up, but didn't really like that idea
