Ceiling fan remote, starts fan, but fan won't stay on

I have a Loews, Harbor Breeze Ceiling fan, 3 speed (no mod. no.), with remote, mod. UC7097T. The entire fan & remote are 2 years old. The remote starts the fan, but 1 second after releasing the button, the fan starts to slow to a stop. I replaced the 5 lead capacitor with EXACTLY the same one & connected it color for color. I have no change in the fan failure to stay on, at any speed. The 2 lights function fine.
Also, the fan will run, as long as I hold the remote button down.
Any ideas ??
Thanks, Genie2

Can you run the fan if the remote was taken out of the equation? In other words supply current directly to the fan. If it works, then your remote is bad.

I was thinking the same thing, my problem is that the antenna is flat against the ceiling, so the entire fan would have to come down. The fan is 16 feet off the ground & I have no helper.
I do appreciate the suggestion, thanks.
