Recessed lighting layout questions

Hi,

I'm planning on installing some recessed led cans in a few rooms in my house and had some questions regarding layout. The bedrooms are fairly standard, so I was planning on putting a ceiling fan (with light) in the center, and have 4 cans around it. For the placement of the four cans, I was going to put them equidistant from the center & the walls (e.g. just to make sure the layout is even).

My question is assuming that the ceiling fan light will be off the majority of the time and only the led lights will be on, is this plan sound?

Thanks in advance!

Assuming you have plans for switching both fan and lights separately at the wall, this plan will work.

What size is the room? Have you checked the fixture spec's to see what the recommended spacing is ?
Just a thought

Yea, I plan on using multiple switches.

I don't have any of the fixtures yet, as I'm just trying to do my homework. Are there any solid websites that describe optimal placement of recessed lighting? e.g. How far off from the walls should you be? etc.

Recessed spacing depends on mounting height, trim selected, bulb used, beam spread and room use and type of lighting desired. Spacing will be different for accent lighting vs general vs task lighting.
