How to mount outdoor pergola light

What is the best way to mount an outdoor light on a pergola? The light is a "barn style" light a short down tube:

My pergola has exposed 2 x 6 rafters:

I'd like to run the conduit on the top of the rafter to hide it from below.
Should I mount a junction box to the side of the rafter, or under?
Should I just bend a 90 into the conduit with a slight horizontal offset to come down the side of the rafter or just use a couple pre-made elbows?

You may want to use a round weatherproof box for the mounting. The only problem is bringing the conduit in. Anything above the box will cause water to enter the box.

You may need to run your conduit inside the rafter and straight to the box. Otherwise you could put a compression fitting on the end of your conduit and transition into a piece of seal tite.

UF might make for a neater install. Then just paint the gray UF white.

UF is a good option with a wet connector or EMT with compression fittings and a threaded LB and gasketed cover would make a neat 90* down into the box.
Probably doesn't even need to be water tight being in CA.(just kidding)
