Question Ceiling Fan Wiring - I Need Help!

I am trying to wire a new ceiling fan that has a remote and a light kit. In the outlet box are two neutral white wire and two hot black wires. The new fan has quick connects for the light and remote assemblies but I am not certain how to connect the two black wires from the box to the single red wire from the fan. Do I connect both black wires to the red and of course the white one to the white from the box? One of the white wires from the box had previously been left unattached.

Welcome to the forums.

You should have one hot wire and one neutral wire. More than likely you opened up a switch loop connection that you should not have.

Is there a switch on the wall that controls/controlled power to that light ?
Was there a fan there before and if not... are you sure you have a fan rated box there ?

You should have only three wires from the fan.... white, black, blue and ground.
I'm not sure where the red wire is coming from. Maybe a link to the fan would help here.

Fan

Did the previous fan use two switches? One for the fan and another for the light? With your new fan, you will only use one wall switch.
