HPS fixture 70w bulb in place of 100w bulb

Hi,
The high pressure sodium light on my barn went out (started cycling). The old bulb was a 100W s62 bulb.
I put a 70w s54 bulb in the fixture, and it works. The light seems a little more pink than yellow, but I'm fine with that. It actually seems brighter than the old bulb.

So my question is, will the 70w s54 bulb hurt the ballast? I'd rather use the 70w (brighter, and less energy used), but I don't want to do so at the expense of the ballast.

Thanks!

The ballast will probably be fine but I wouldn't count on a long bulb life.

The bulb and ballast need to match in HPS fixtures. I will second the short bulb life prognosis.
