Help wiring new ceiling fans

I am going to install two new ceiling fan/light combos in two adjacent bedrooms. There are existing ceiling lights where I will mount the new fans. In a previous job, I had electricians run a new cable (circuit) into a junction box in the attic for future use (existing circuits are maxed out). I was wondering if I could use the existing light switch wiring for turning on and off the fans but run the new wiring from the attic junction box directly to the fans for power? If so, could you explain the proper way of doing that? All the wiring is 14 guage. Thanks.

Do you want separate switches for fan and light? 2011 and later NEC code requires a neutral at the switch box even if not needed. That is easy if you bring power to the switch box first. If you bring it to the fan first and want separate switches for light and fan you would have to use 14-4 cable (red, black, blue, white +ground) for a switch loop.
