Bath Fan Demolition

Hi All,

I have a difficult bath fan I want to replace and thought I would check here for some advice on my plan before I started.

The fan box has no ceiling access and I can just barely see the top of it when looking over the wall from the adjoining room. I can see the screws and how the box is mounted to the vertical face of the 2x4.

I was thinking I would insert a flat bar on the outside of the box from underneath and push it upwards to the screws. Then drive the flat bar through the screws to cut them off.

I'm pretty sure this method will work, but maybe you guys have a better idea?

Thanks for any help.

You may not be able to cut the screws but they may pull thru the metal which is just as good.

The flat bar or wrecking bar would be one choice. A Sawzall with metal blade would be another.

Hmmm, I wonder if my saws-all blade is long enough?

Thanks!
