New house siding - how do I install outdoor lights on this bracket?
As the subject line says...no clue how to use these brackets.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes, the old light was attached to the electrical box before the new siding was put on. I don't think there is anything unsafe about it, these mounting blocks are what they put on new siding jobs these days.

I hate that style.
I only use these.
Shop Severe Weather 7.5-in x 7.75-in White Vinyl Electrical Mounting Block at Lowes.com
Outlet box is built right in and just needs to be mounted horizontal and and larger cover plate is avalible that fits right over the same box.
Check this out and see if it helps.

I generally will patch the sheathing and install a new octagon box on the surface of the sheathing so that once you cut out the circle that is marked in the back of the vinyl mount, it will sit flush with the surface of the new mount.
