Linear Track Light Live End Power Feed

Hi guys, I'm looking to install track lighting and would like to understand the difference between these two live end feed options:

Option 1
Option 2

In my case I have a power outlet (switch controlled) near one of the ends so for the sake of simplicity I want to attach a basic power chord/plug to the power feed end. My guess is option 1 is what I need because of the side knockout is where I'd insert my chord through. Option 2 seems more for in-wall/junction box type setups because there is an accompanying wall plate/cover.

Post a pic so we can see what you have in the ceiling,you maybe able to remove the outlet and install an adapter plate and an end feed simular to this,could be a better choice than a cord

Normally track lights are hard wired. Does anything in the instructions say a cord set is permitted? Code says you must follow the manufacturers instructions.

Bypassing Fan/Light Remote

Current setup: In wall wired remote switch / remote to a Hampton bay fan that has up/down lights. Both the up and down lights are dimmable and controlled independently. The remote receiver will not dim properly with LED bulbs, and I am moving over all of my switches to zwave. The remote receiver in the fan takes in one hot and one neutral, and has a hot/neutral that goes to the fan, and then a hot for the up light, and a hot for the downlight. If I were to replace the current 14/3 wiring with a 14/4, could I run one hot to up light, one hot to down light, and one hot to the fan and the neutral to neutral and use 3 switches to control the 3 things? I could then replace the 3 switches with zwave later. Would this wiring work?Read More

Under Cabinet Lighting/Transformers- Troubleshooting

Hi, I was wondering if someone can give me guidance in troubleshooting transformers for an Under Cabinet Lighting system. I want to help friends that say that they have a bad transformer on their Under Cabinet Lighting system. I will be visiting them shortly and help them but before I tried testing my Under Cabinet Lighting system at home so can I have something to compare to when I troubleshoot at their place, their system. For my system, I have put a multi-meter (Auto AC-volts) to see the incoming 120V, I see 116V which is find and normal. 1. I have put the multi-meter (Auto AC-volts), after the transformer on the 2 wires (both whites), but I do NOT see the 12 volts on the meter. Is this correct ? Should I be doing this another way? Note: on the Transformer's label it is written 12 volts. 2. Is there anyways to test the continuity on a transformer ? Any help would be appreciated, MichelRead More
