compatible replacement for Zing Ear E89885 pull chain switch

The pull chain switch on my ceiling fan no longer works, and I'm looking for a replacement. It is a Zing Ear E89885 with the following specs printed on the body:

3A250VAC
6A125VAC
6A125VL

I found a similar switch at Home Depot (Gardner Bender, I think) that has the same specs, except that the last one is 3A125VL instead of 6A125VL. Would this work and be safe, or do I need to find something that matches the original exactly?

Thanks,
Rob

Welcome to the forums.

That switch will be fine. (a Gardner Bender switch should be better quality)

A word to the wise..... take a picture and document thoroughly the wiring on the switch before disconnecting it.

Thanks, Pete. I did take a picture before I clipped the wires. Can I assume the wiring on the Gardner Bender is the same as the Zing Ear -- that is, the wires in the corresponding positions on the two switches connect to the same wires in the lampholder on the ceiling fan?

Thanks,
Rob
