Installing ceiling receptacle for projector

I want to install an outlet in ceiling of my tv room for projector. the direction that the joists are running prevents me from using the wall outlets. However, I do have a set of track lights nearby. I wanted to know if it was possible to bridge into this fixture to get power for the new outlet. Pls help...

Welcome to the forums.

You would have to open the box where the track lights are attached to see what you have for wiring in there. Since the track lights are switched.... there may not be an "always live" source at the ceiling.

In the ceiling box you would need to have more then one cable or conduit entering the box. Ideally you will see a white wire connected to a black wire which would indicate a switch loop.
