Photocell Issue

I installed a photocell on an outside lamp post earlier this summer. It has worked flawlessly since then. The power to that lamp post can be controlled by a light switch inside the house but it just left on all the time so that the photocell can operate appropriately.

I had family over for the holidays and someone turned that switch off thinking it was for another light in the house. Since then, the photocell wont turn on after dark. It will only work if I go out to the lamp post and tap on it a few times. It does turn the light OFF correctly in the morning.

Any idea what could be causing this? Im guessing i'll just need to replace the photocell but I figured Id ask before doing so. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

If tapping the sensor makes it come on..... that would suggest a relay with a corroded/burned contact or an electronic board with a defective solder connection.

I'd lean towards the relay as they are tiny little things that don't have much contact area.
