GU 5.3 spotlight in Bathroom - fitting not working but bulb OK

Hi all,

I have 4 spots in my bathroom, but one has stopped working
I'm not an expert at lighting, but I've managed to work out that the GU5.3 bulb itself, in said fitting, is not the reason why it's not emitting light. I replaced the bulb with that of another fitting in the bathroom, and it didn't work.

All 4 light fittings have been working flawlessly for the last 6 years.

How can I work out what the problem is? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rak.

When you say fittings, do you mean sockets?

Yes, I do mean socket...

This is the type of socket the bulb goes into:

And this is the type of bulb:

The wire from the socket then goes up into the ceiling, but I have no idea what it looks like beyond that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Using a multimeter check the socket for voltage. You should get about 12 volts. (A non contact tester won't work.)

Not sure it matters, but be aware the OP is in GB.

Thanks, Larry. I missed that. My advice applies to U.S. only.
