Screwy ceiling fan
hello folks, first post here. Tried searching and couldnt find anything that fit what im dealing with
bought a new house, changing old brass fans and almond switches to white.
Previous fan switch was on/off and the fan only worked on mid speed, the pull chain turned it off. So i figured a new fan would fix that up
I put in a Lutron Skylark dimmer for light and fan Model # S2-LH-WH, ive used these before with no problem.
new fan, new switch...only works at mid speed. Put the original rocker switch back in, same results.
pulled a working fan down from other bedroom and used both switches and a new single pole switch, same result
what am i dealing with here?!?!

Welcome to the forums!
The problem is obviously that you changed the color
Odd problem. Some questions:
Do you have a multimeter?
That's a dual dimmer. Were there two switches before, one for fan and one for lights?
When you say it only works at mid speed...what happens when you pull the chain to change speed? It only runs at all in the middle setting? Does the dimmer control the speed at all?
Do the lights work as expected? Are they full brightness? If they are on their own dimmer do they go from off to full brightness with dimmer?
Can you describe (or give us pictures) of how you wired switches and fan?
That should give us a chance...

Thanks for the reply!
to clear it up, i copied the wrong part #... Model # S2-LFSQH-WH This is the little fella Im using.
Dimmer for light, 3 clicks for fan
Digital meter shower 121V, the lights work great, no flickering or surging.
The previous switch was a dimmer for light with a rocker under it for the fan.
The fan shuts off on another other setting on the fan switch as well as when you pull the chain with the slide switch and the plain toggle.
Ill pull it out when i get home, but there werent any issues wiring it up.
Also for giggles, i played with the fan speed, both slider and pull chain with the lights off-all stages of dim- and then full light, and no change

Try bypassing any switches and check results.
Connect the source hot that is currently feeding the light switch directly to the hot wire going to fan.
Does the fan operate properly?

Measure voltages in the fan box at the various settings. Measure right across the two wires to the fan, not to ground.

I suspect the pull chain on the fan is at the middle setting. Try cycling the pull chain and see if the speed changes.
