Question Fluorescent fixture not working

I was in the kitchen and the fixture suddenly went out (both bulbs at the same time). I replaced the bulbs but nothing. I have electricity from the sockets in the kitchen, but the light switch and fixture doesn't respond. I opened it up, but it doesn't have a ballast or it has a mini ballast/starter that is very compact inside a part I can't get into.

Advice? What happened?

Welcome to the forums.

If it is fluorescent then it definitely has a ballast. Sometimes the ballast is protected by a removable access cover.

Can you post a picture of what you have there ? http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

This is what I have. I wanted to know the problem and whether if it something I can fix or if I need to call the landlord. I live in an apartment.

Definitely not a fixture used here in the States.

I would check with the landlord.
That may not be a serviceable fixture. It may just get replaced.

Yeah. Contacted the landlord. Production date on it is 2005. I'd replace it myself, but I think the circuit breakers are out back in the shed with the landlord's stuff so waiting for a message back.
