Light/vent combo

I am installing a light/vent combo in a bathroom. The light and vent will be operated independently using separate switches. The instructions say to use 14/3 wire when using 2 switches but there are no instructions on how to wire the switches.

My question is if I am supplying the switches using 14/2 wire, how do I connect the 14/2, 14/3 and switches all together? Do I just use one 14/2 wire and run two pigtails off the black wire, one to each switch? Or should I bring in 2 14/2 wires to the switch box and connect each of the blacks to the two switches? Or is there another option I'm not thinking of?

Thanks!

The #14 cable is for a 15 amp circuit. I mention that because some bathrooms have 20 amp circuits.

One source cable will come into the switch box, white neutral will be connected directly to the 14-3 going to light. The source hot will have 2 pigtails, one to each switch.
The black and red from 14-3 will also go to their respective switch terminals.
