How to cover Outside wall light pancake box

Hello,

I had an outside light attached to a wall into a pancake J box. Problem is was too high to to work as a motion activated light. My solution was to run condiut down three feet and have the motion sensor separately mounted.

In order to connet the conduit, I want to put an outdoor J box "over" the pancake. Then mount the light to the j box and mount the conduit out the bottom of the j box.

Here is my problem.what is the best way to seal over the old pancake j-box mounted into the wall. Here is a picture of my new exterior box (which mostly covers the old pancake, but still has a gap where water can seep in.

a) I could caulk around the exterior box, but im not sure how long term effective that would be.

b) I could put some sort of metal plate over the pancake, then mount the new exterior box to the wall through that plate and then caulk around the plate or use a neoprene gasket under it.

c) i could remove the pancake, and re-stucco the wall (lots of work), or

d) do what somebody here who has experience recommends.

Thank you. . Jimbo

I would just use a bead of good quality silicone caulk. Should last 15-20 years,
