Bathroom exhaust fan with light wiring

Need some advice on wiring. Currently have two single boxes side by side with light switches. Want to install exhaust fan with light, never had a fan there before.
Going to add 3 gang box to add timer. Would it be better to pigtail from hot wire(incoming power going to light switch) to light switch and the timer switch or just connect to light switch terminal(incoming hot) and connect timer to same terminal? Could also run new line from breaker if needed.

I didn't understand that. Assuming power comes in at the switch box you would pigtail the incoming hot to each switch or timer. You would run a 3-conductor cable (black, red, white. +ground) to the new fan/light.

That is correct, thanks.
Hit a snag with the 3 gang box. Depth of existing single boxes were 1-1/2". Ended up using Raco 1-1/2" single gangable boxes to make one 3 gang box.

You're not going to be able to get much wiring and three switches in a box that shallow.

Looks like there will be enough room. Has switch loop at the two existing switches.
I want to run the light of the fan off of one of the existing light fixtures. Just making sure this correct, wiring from existing fixture to exhaust fan light.
White wire from fan light pigtailed to white wire off existing fixture and pigtailed to power feed white wire.
Black wire from fan light pigtailed to black wire at existing fixture. Using 12/2 wiring
