Light only works from 1 of the 2 switches

The light in my laundry room only works when the garage-side switch is down. The kitchen-side switch then works normally. If the garage-side switch is up then the light doesn't turn on at all. Is the garage-side 3-way switch going bad or is there something else wrong?

Did both light switches previously work? If yes then it's a good chance a switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Both should be 3-way switches and the problem could be caused by either.

Besure to mark the wire connected to the common before changing out the switch and remember position of the common may be different on the new switch so always go by terminal color not position of the wires.
