Are LED bulbs safe in ceiling fans?

My ceiling fan manual says to only use incandescent bulbs which are the e11 type. 75 watt max. Why could this be and would you still try using LED in it? I hate how much heat standard bulbs create.

Is there a dimming feature in the fan? If so it might not be compatible with LEDs.

Yes, I would be fine trying LEDs in fixture.

Yes actually there is dimming. However, they have led dimming bulbs too.

It would be safe to use an LED dimming bulb however if your fan is not rated for LED bulbs it could damage either the bulb or the fan or both. Some fans that are not necessarily rated for LED bulbs may still be able to use LED bulbs. To be sure though check with the fans manufacturer to see if it is compatible. If it isn't the worst that will happen is that the bulb or the fans electronics or maybe both will quit working and you may not be able to turn your lights on or turn them off. You will not have a fire but you also will no longer have a properly working fan either.

Some LED bulbs appear as a dead short to fan dimmers and have been known to damage the dimmers. Definitely consult with the manufacturer and if they say incandescent only... that's what you should use.

Haven't paid any attention to heat output from LED bulbs if any but I do know that they get very hot to the touch.
