How do I remove globe to change bulb?

Just bought this house, and it has a couple of these modern looking globe lights. A bulb just burned out, and I've been having a difficult time getting this bulb off. Is there any trick to it? I've just been trying to pull it off as there is a flange inside, but it doesn't seem to budge.

Need a better picture of how globe is mounted. Usually something screw on there.

We keep our house warm, and have some ceiling light fixtures that are enclosed with poor ventilation and I imagine pretty hot inside. I thought I should use low watt appliance bulbs in them since they can withstand heat. These lights remain on most of the day. Do you see anything wrong with this?Read More

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some help on a very strange occurance in my home... Two bedrooms right next to each each other both fitted with their own switches, light fitting and energy saving bulb. These were all working absolutely perfectly until about 2 months ago when I started noticing some weird happenings with them. Bedroom1 (B1) was working fine, Bedroom2 (B2) started playing up and the light would only come on after about 4 or 5 seconds. I thought ok, bulb, replaced that but still having issues. Eventually the light just wouldn't come on at all but then one day my wife turned on the light in B1 and all of a sudden, both the lights in B1 & B2 came on!? This again went on for some time where we'd have to turn on both B lights for the light to come on in B2 but now again its given up the ghost and only randomly comes on when it feels like it. I checked the wiring in the switches and the ceiling roses in both bedrooms but all looks snug and nothing exposed. Went up into the loft and checked wiring around the light fittings but nothing looks untowards? All other lights on the floor work absolutely fine....
