Ceiling fan rotation

Hi All, how is the rotation determined?when sitting under the fan and looking up at it,if it is turning CCW as suggested for cooling the blades appear to be pitched the wrong way,this is true with all my fans, I am thinking the best thing would be to go by the pitch of the blades and not CW/CCW.
Thoughts.

Unless your fan is an oddity, looking up CCW will force the air down. The leading edge is pointed up and the trailing edge down.

Never paid any attention before but All my fans are turning CC, leading edge is up trailing down. Works good

Looking at mine they all spin CW with the leading edge up.

Thanks for that,I am trying to figure out how the rotation is determined,when I lay on the floor and look straight at the fan it's turning CC,maybe I am putting yo much thought into this.

You need to look at it from the up to ceiling, Everything will look reversed on the floor.

Blows down is summer, up in winter. Trailing edge down blows air down.

Proper electrical box for ceiling fan?

Hi everyone, thank you for all the DIY advice I've gotten from this forum over the years! Finally had to register as I have a question I'm hoping you can help me out with. Moved into a new rental which unfortunately has no ceiling fans in any of the rooms. I'd like to put one up in each room but after reading about how some electrical boxes are not rated for a ceiling fan, I'm a bit cautious about putting one up. I have put one up in a previous house and I guess I just got lucky with the electrical box because I had no idea they needed to be secured the right way in the attic. Unfortunately my new place doesn't have any easy attic access, it's more like a crawl space and I don't have a ladder to get up there anyway. I took the existing light fixture off and took a couple of pictures of the box. I just can't tell if it's the right type of box, I see no sticker anywhere on it, and while it feels secure when I gently tug on it, I know that's not a good test. The existing light fixture was one of those 2lb Home Depot plastic-y ones so that's not a good test of it's strength either. Can someone take a look and determine if anything strikes you as this being a proper box that can support a ceiling fan? Thanks in advance! There is a problem with extreme shadowing when the ceiling recessed light is used as the primary source of light and problematic shadowing when used in conjunction with the ceiling fan light fixture.[/FONT][/COLOR] [COLOR=#000000][FONT=UICTFontTextStyleTallBody]Situation:[/FONT][/COLOR] [COLOR=#000000][FONT=UICTFontTextStyleTallBody]The eyeball recessed light above our fireplace is not centered and too close to the fireplace wall. There is a ceiling fan in the middle of ceiling. Currently, without the ceiling fan light ON there is extreme shadowing on and below the fireplace mantel. There is little problem with only the ceiling fan light ON but having this light on at night is not always desirable.
