Dimmer on ceiling fan light only
I know adding a dimmer to a ceiling fan is a fire hazard if the dimmer is connected to the fan motor. My ceiling fan is in a room with one switch. The switch controls the light, but has no effect on the fan. To turn the fan on/off or change speeds, I have to do that all directly using the pull cord. Can I install a regular dimmer to the switch in this case so that it dims the light?

Welcome to the forums! If the switch has no control over the fan, then, yes, it is separately wired and you can install a dimmer for the light alone. You will still have to control the fan via the pull chain.

Can the fan operate with the wall switch off? If so, you are good to go.
