Can I update this recessed light?

Hello, I have several halogen downlights (shown in picture). I bought LED retrofit kits for these (https://www.amazon.com/Hyperikon-Dow...s=led+retrofit).

Would it be possible to rewire the old light to a simple socket adaptor (shown in picture) in order to plug in the LED by cutting the two wires and wiring them to the socket?

Welcome to the forums! Others will chime in with ideas, so hang in there for the best that suits your needs. I would not use the socket you pictured, due to the fact the screws and wiring will still be left exposed and could cause a problem if it touched the casing. You may want to cut your wiring and connect it to an enclosed socket using Bcaps Westinghouse 1-7/8 in. Porcelain Socket-7041900 - The Home Depot

OR, use these so the wires can be disconnected if the light fails. Ideal PowerPlug Orange Ballast Disconnect Discs (5-Pack)-30-1302S - The Home Depot

You have 4" cans and the retrofit kit you linked to is for 5"-6" recessed fixtures.

Thank you

Thanks very much Chandler, I will try those. PJmax, impressive attention to detail, I bought the right ones but got lazy and used the wrong Amazon link.
