Ceiling fan light switch has to be flipped twice to turn on???

Hey Everyone,

I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom which has a standard 2 switch plate on the wall, one for the fan and one for the lights. For some reason, you have to flip the switch for the lights twice for them to come on. If you flip the switch from off to on once, the light will come on and then immediately shut off. If you flip the switch again the light will come on and stay on EVERY time. Every now and then the light will come on with one flip of the switch and stay on, but this is maybe 1 out of 10 times.

I have replaced the switch itself but that did not help at all. I really have no clue what the problem might be but need it fixed ASAP! Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jason

Has it always been this way? Please post brand and model No of the fan if you can. Does it also have a remote control?
