Switching from light fixture to ceiling fan question

I have an ugly light fixture in the corner of my room that is attached to the switch. In the attic the flat white wiring from the switch goes to an electrical outlet mounted in a plastic box in the attic. The light fixture is then supplies via wires (not plugged in) from the outlet box. The fixture is in the corner but I want the fan in the middle, so my question is, can I just cut the flat white wires supplying the outlet box and move it to the middle of the room to install a ceiling fan?Name: White-Twin-Flat-Cable-Pure-Copper-Wire.jpg
