you end up with an empty socket into which you can screw in the light bulb. It's just hanging by two wires Name: IMG_3258.JPG

Is there some kind of kit i can get to securely position the bulb at the top/inside the ceiling hole and hold on the face-plate Name: IMG_3287.JPG

Welcome to the forums.

Normally the guts of the can are removed so that an LED kit will fit. You don't usually go back to a regular bulb.

Is there a brand name on what you are working with ?
I have a feeling you will need to install an old work can. Basically starting over.

sorry - i should have said that i'm switching to another type of LED flood bulb. there's plenty of room for it in the hole.

it says LT560 on the kitchen led covers. Does that help?
