Replacement ballast 101 help

I have a fluorescent fixture that won't light. I have narrowed to the ballast, with 124 volts in, but 3 new tubes won't even flicker.

The current ballast: Home Star B332I120HOESC

On the internet I can find a similar looking ballast, but the P/N is B232I120RES-A. It claims to be a universal ballast. Anyone know if it will work?

3 tube, 48", can't remember the nomenclature, but the tubes are skinnier than those old F40 cool whites.

Probably T-8's. That number represents the diameter of the tube.
Old 4' tubes were T-12's which were 1.2" in diameter.
T-8's are .8" or just over 3.4".

There is a problem in your posted ballast number as you have an HO in the number which is incorrect or is a VERY old fixture.

You need a 3 tube universal ballast like..... BU-B332IUNVHP

They are 48" T-8. Blah, blah, blah to get to 25 characters.

Thanks Ray. Can't beat the price. Now I'll find out how much a PITA it is to install and connect to the lamp sockets. Thanks for all you moderators on this board.

Just remember you follow the diagram on the new ballast which may vary from the way it is currently connected.
