I am new to this site and a rookie when it comes to remodeling and even more so electrical work. So i just finished my basement and put can lights in the ceiling. I have 2 different breakers for the basemen, 1 for the outlets, and one for the switches. I can not get the light in the closet to work.
My switch to control the lights in the closet has a "jumper" that is tied into an outlet. The wire that is "jumped" has red, black and white. And the wire to my lights also have a red, black and white. I feel like i have tried every combination on the switch to get it work. Have yet to find the right way...
I hope i explained this well enough to be able to get some help!!
Thanks in advanced!

Show us a picture of the wiring at the outlet where the "jumper" comes from, and at the light fixture and we can help.
