Hunter ceiling fan- not using factory remote
Sorry to hang off an older thread but this is the closest forum I've found to my current problem. I too am installing a Hunter fan from Costco (mine is a 54" Avia Ceiling Fan, model #59234) and want to bypass the remote control receiver. I have a 12-3 running from two light switches on the wall up to the ceiling but Hunter's customer service told me I need to follow the instructions and only use a single light switch plus the receiver. From this thread, it sounds like I can skip using the included receiver and go with a wall dimmer and fan controller instead but I'm new to home ownership and I don't know what type of fan controller to purchase.
The "Fan & Light Control" I'm trying to skip has a part # of K243111000 with some information listed on the back:
Rating: 120V~, 60Hz
Freq: 434Mhz
Fan: 1.0A
Light: 300W
Looking at wall-mounted fan controls in my local hardware store, they all claim 1.5 Amps in their names. Should I be worried that the wall-control is 1.5 Amps when the remote receiver listed 1.0A?

Welcome to the forums.
Here you are in your very own thread.
That remote shows as a universal remote which means it only has five wires.
You don't have to use that BUT some fans don't vary well with other dimming/variable speed systems.
That means you can connect your fan to the the three wires you have run down to the switch and try different switches. You'd connect the light to red.... the black fan to black and white to white.
It's ok to use a larger controller than needed.

Thanks!
Thanks for your help! I managed to find some 1.5 Amp variable speed switches for the fans and they work perfectly. Now to just get two of them to stop wobbling at high speeds...
