Shop lights

Im installing 4 2x4 led metalux trophers in a new workshop with 12-2 wire. 2 lights will be butted aginst each other long wise and the other 2 butted long wise about 8 ft away. The wiring harness of the lights is a smaller wire I guess a 16 agw. Would it be alright to run the 12-2 wire to the middle of the first set of lights and wire both together with the 12-2 and then run 12-2 over to the second set of lights and wire them together.

You could use 14-2 as long as the breaker is 15 amps. It is easier to work with for lighting and the LED lighting won't overload it. Daisy chaning the lights is common. Just connect white to white, black to black and ground to ground, and be sure to ground the chassis with the green screw. Yes your method is good. Where does the power come in? At the ceiling or at the switch?
