ceiling fan wiring

Hi.
I dont know much about electric stuff but I got my self a used ceiling fan with lights but I wanted to remove the lights.
In doing so,I cut ALL wires coming out from under the fan without taking noticer of what goes where!!!
And now I have NO idea how to get it together!

Theres:
2 pull chain switches (I only want one-4 wires)
1 reverse switch ( I dont need it)
2 capacitors

Can someone PLEASE help me!!!

Thanks.

At this point probably not but post the make and model number of the fan and pictures of what you did. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...rt-images.html

Normally the lights just plug in under the motor. To remove them you unplug the light kit and replace the canopy.

I suspect you may have ruined the fan.

If someone could only tell me what the different colours mean,I would be fine...(I think)
Especially the wires going into the windings.-the colours r blue, red, brown and grey/purple.

And there in lies the problem. There is no universal color code. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and they don't usually provide a chart. It may even vary on what wire was available the day the fan was made or by what subcontractor.
