Question Wall dimmer for fan light

I recently replaced an older ceiling fan with a new model that has a remote-controlled dimmable LED light board. However, I decided to use my existing hard-wired wall controls rather than hooking up the remote. I currently have a switch to operate the light and a separate 3-speed dial to control the fan. Since the dimmer on the fan light is meant to be controlled with the remote, my question is: Can I replace my wall light switch with an LED dimmer wall switch to dim the fan light, or will this cause issues with the power to the fan motor? Thanks in advance!

AFAIK, it's not good to put a dimmer on a fan. However, there are new innovations every day & my info maybe outdated.

Shorty is correct, you should not use a dimmer on a fan motor.

However, If you have two separate wires in the ceiling box (which it sounds like you do) one for the fan, and one for the light, then there is no issues installing a dimmer for the lights as the fan will not be controlled by the dimmer.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, two separate wall controls for the fan and light (see photo). I'm assuming it would be okay to swap the light switch for a dimmer switch. Do you agree?

I agree with the others, it's bad to use a dimmer on a fan motor but with two switch legs you will be fine
