Troubleshooting a Casblanca W32 Wall Switch

Trying to help an elderly neighbor. The fan is mostly unresponsive to the wall switch, although occasionally the light comes on, but from a different button than the light. The motor never runs but sometimes it will twitch while pressing buttons. Is there any way to tell if the failure is the wall transmitter or the receiver board in the fan? I assume that if the circuit board is gone, it would be more cost effective to replace the fan.

It is more than likely a defective control board. The control board and wall switch get replaced with the updated W85 control. This kits runs around $150 and requires a partial tear down of the fan motor.

Depending how attached to the fan he is..... it may be more cost effective and easier for you.... to replace it with a new one.

Thanks. We'll go with replacement. This is the second time in 15 yrs that they have had a circuit board fail. I think Casablanca know that their boards are fragile.
