Bathroom Fan Wiring

Mod note: Member is in the UK

Trying to replace a bathroom fan, which is switch operated, rather than coming on with the light.
Took out old fan, replaced with exactly same model, but can't get switch to operate, as fan is now
always on. Two questions...

What might be wrong?

Is it right that the wiring in this diagram appears to connect live to neutral?

Note, electrical knowledge is not extensive, so simple descriptions would be appreciated :-)

Images show inside of fan, and connection in loft (with lighting circuits in left and fan connections on
right).

Thanks

I need your help in identifying the cables. The choices will be power, light and switch.
Cable 1 is ?
Cable 2 is ?
Cable 3 is ?

I'm not sure on the fan/light wiring. I'm not sure what the relay and electronic board are for.

Cables 1 and 2 are from two upstairs lights. Cable 3 is the Fan.

This is the Wiring before I disconnected the broken fan.

Hope this helps.

If cable 1 and 2 go to upstairs lights and cable 3 goes to the fan.... where is the fan switch wiring ?

You are showing two hot wires connected together and the fan in series with the hot wires. That is not correct.
