Motion sensor light misbehaving!

Recently moved into a new-to-us house. There is a two socket motion sensor light mounted over the back door. Even though the light is set to its max "time on" setting (10 mins), it only stays on for maybe 45 seconds at a time. Does the light need to be replaced? And can I simply swap it out for a non sensor light, as in, will the wiring still be the same? Thanks!

Yes, if it is on a switch.

Wiring to the light will be the same whether it is a motion light or a regular light. Depending on the light, you may be able to just change the sensor on the light, or if you choose, bypass the sensor altogether and just wire the lights direct and control it from the switch.
