How do I replace existing wiring to fan?
I have an existing ceiling fan with a light kit and both are connected to a wall switch with one set of wiring. I would like to separate the fan from the light, so I’ll need to run a second set of wires from the wall up to the fan in the ceiling. What is the easiest way of getting new wiring up there? Do I need to cut away some drywall? Can I just fish the wire up there and use the old wiring as a guide? Should I connect new wiring to the old wiring and just pull it through the ceiling?
Any help you can provide on the easiest way is much appreciated!

It would certainly be much easier to get a fan/light that operated via a single wall control.
The wiring currently in place is more than likely stapled in place and will be of no help. If you have an attic above the fan..... the job is easy.
No attic.... you need to drill a hole thru the upper wall plate and fish to the light. This requires the hole you drill and the light to be in the same bay.
