Wiring new light fixture

Hey all,

Newbie here so go easy! Iím from Ottawa, Canada.

Now, I have just moved into a condo and Iím replacing the light fixtures. Iíve already replaced one (had 1 light switch), but Iíve hit a bump once I started on my second...

This second light box has TWO black wires and TWO white wires (2 switches operate this light). Each pair is connected to an LED bulb (2 led bulbs in existing fixture).

My NEW light fixture has 1 bulb and one pair of black and white wires.

Do I simply pig tail the black and white wires together?

Thanks

Yes, or remove one switch, and use only one cable (pair). You would cap the unused cable on both ends and replace the duplex switch plate with one that had one switch opening and a blank. Your way is easier.

Thanks! I will pigtail the 3 black wires together and the 3 white wires together, cap and then electrical tape.

STOP! I thought there was TWO cables at the light not three. Tell us all the wires at the switch and the colorsĘĘ if the wires on the switch.

Sounds like he was counting the wires from the light fixture as the 3rd pair.

I'm confused... are you saying one pair of wires originally went to one half of the fixture (one bulb) and the other pair of wires to the other half, such that each switch controlled one bulb in a single fixture?
