Exhaust Fan Wiring

I replaced the exhaust fan with light in my bathroom. I light and fan are hooked together going to one switch. The problem is everything works when I have it wired like in the picture but when I try to put all the wires into the fan housing both stop working and nothing turns on. The wire nuts are on tight and nothings coming loose so I don't know whats wrong.

Welcome to the forums.

Is there a plug there where the white, blue and black wires connect to the fan ?
If not.... it must be in your connections.

Yea, the black/white wires hook to the fan and the blue/white wires hook to the light. Iíll literally put the wires in the box and it stops working and then take them back out without redoing any connections/wire nuts and it works again.

Do the wire nuts have springs inside? Some cheap wire nuts included with fixtures don't have them.
