Recessed Lighting Layout?

Greetings,I'm a new homeowner who purchased a home that has no overhead lighting. In the living room, there are zero lights. My wife and I want to install recessed lighting in the room since it's quite large, and lamps do not do a great job lighting the room. The Living room is a very long 25.65ft x 11.5ft.We are torn between a few design/light decisions. We like 5-6" cans since the room is large. Ceiling is 8ft tall. We want to stick to the first lights 3 feet from the walls to help with the "dark corners" vibe. We could use an 8 light layout or 10 light layout. The 8 with higher lumen led bulbs or 10 lights with 600 lumen led bulbs. I've made a layout in some 3D Modeling software. Distances are scale. What are thoughts? Any help is appreciated!

There is no right or wrong answer, either layout will work and you will use bulb wattage or dimmers to adjust the light level.

If I had to pick I would go with the 10 bulb, I tend to install odd number items like this to break up patterns.

Your plans look good, but exactly how you lay it out will depend on the framing that is up there. Joists will be 16" OC and trusses will be 19.2" or 24" OC. Add to that any heating or plumbing runs and your whole layout might be out the window.
