Single pole switch trouble

I have a light switch at my front door with 3 black wires connected. When the switch is turned on, it provides power to a SWITCH in my crawlspace. It looks like everything might be tied into the GFI by my front door. When I turn the crawlspace switch on and off, nothing happens to the GFI. Why would it be wired like this? Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

If you have three wires on the switch....... one is hot in, one is hot out and the third is switched out. Quite possibly the black wires were improperly installed on the switch. Only the hot in and hot out should be tied together unless you want that switch controlling the light and the hot out wire.

Can't comment on the GFI as I don't know how it's connected in that circuit. More than likely it's part of what I discussed previously.
