Exhaust fan wiring

I need some advice.I have installed a new exhaust fan in bathroom and I can't see to get it wired right.I have 12/2 wire in attic which is where i will tie 4 wires from double pole receptable that I need to run from switch to attic.I also have wires from exhaust fan blue & white & a black and white. One for fan and one for light.Pleas tell me how to get this wired right so it will work and not trip breaker.I feel comfortable doing this but just need some help. One more thing I want to wire the fan and light together so they will both come at same time. Thanks

You have a 12-2 cable feed in the attic.
4 wires..... two 12-2 cables to the switch ?
Double pole receptacle ?

Need some clarification here.

Ok.... so there is a 14/3 w/gr from the switches to the fan location.
Are there two switches there and you only want to use one or do you want the fan and light to be switched separately ?

Exhaust fan

There are 2 switches and one of these will operate lighting over sink which I have hooked up and working. This wiring was there before installing exhaust.I just replaced single pole switch with a double pole switch.I want the exhaust fan and light on exhaust fan to operate as one.

Exhaust fan

Hopefully I can make this a little more understanding. One wire was already installed on a single pole switch for lights over sink.I replaced single pole switch with a double pole switch.I connected existing wire to new switch so bathroom lights over sink would work. These lights are working.I then ran another 14/2 wire from switch to attic. Now I need to connect new wire from switch to another 14/2 wire in attic for power. How do I splice wire from switch to other wire in attic for power.I also have the blue and white and black and white from exhaust fan which is for light and fan that I want to wire together so when I flip switch light and fan will come on together.I appreciate any help. All wires are 14/2 with hot, neutral, ground.I really appreciate your help.

I replaced single pole switch with a double pole switch
Do you mean a duplex switch, two switches on one yolk?

The tab is not removed.
Power black goes to the tab side.
Lavatory light goes to one of the screws on the side opposite the tab side.
Fan goes to the other screw on the side oppisite the tab side.

Assumes power comes into the switch. All neutrals connected together. Below one diagram for 3-conductor cable and one for two 2-conductor cables.

Exhaust fan

OK for some reason I still can not get exhaust fan and exhaust light to work correctly .The laboratory light works fine. The bottom switch is what I want the exhaust fan & light to work from.I have wire from bottom switch ran up to exhaust fan and light to hook up.Wires coming from fan are blue & white for light and black and white for fan.please tell me how the wires from exhaust fan and exhaust light hook up to live wire that I cut in ceiling which is the power to labtory light. So I have 2 wires from exhaust fan for light and fan,2wires from switch, ran up to attic. What wires go together and then wired back to power source.Keep in mind I only have black and white with ground on wires coming from switch and all wires in attic except the blue white coming from exhaust and black white coming from exhaust.I just couldn't seem to figure out last diagram.Would it be better to try and find another power source for exhaust fan and light and come from it to switch.

Having a hard time understanding. We can only offer help when we know everything that is there. This is what I think you have.

You have two existing wires in the box that were on a single switch. Put them on one of the duplex switches. Connect only the black and red from the three wire to the other duplex switch. Break the tab off of the hot side.

If this doesn't look like what you have..... give us a full description of the wiring at the switch.

Blue and black to switch power in hot wire. White to white.

Would it be better to try and find another power source for exhaust fan and light and come from it to switch.
Do you have a power in cable at the switch?
