I took down an old ceiling fan and found some weird wiring in the electrical box in the ceiling. Please see attached picture. The black, blue, and green wire slipped out while I was removing the old bracket so I'm not sure where they were wired in. I had to cut the white wire from the old ceiling fan during the removal.
Now I am not sure on how to wire the new fan.

Welcome to the forums.
Look at the second picture.
The black wire of that two wire cable is the one that the fan black and blue connects to.
It looks like the black wire broke off.
You may be able to slide that cable further into the box and strip back the jacket to
get enough black wire to work with.

Thanks for your reply.
But the black part that the red arrow points to in the second photo is a nail and not a wire. When you look at my first photo you can see the nail better.

A cable has at least two wires in it. White and black. You are showing white and copper.
Are you sure the copper is not a black wire ??
If it is..... that is where the fan connects.

That looks like old style two wire cable with no ground.
Just leave the green wire capped inside the box.
Just as an aside...... that is also not a fan rated electrical box.
It's a standard 4" round lighting box.
