Wiring a switch/outlet combo

Would like to replace a switch that goes to a ceiling light with a switch/outlet combo. The switch would then control the ceiling light but not the outlet. This is an old house (1930) with old wiring to match. The only wires coming out of the box is a white and black. Is this possible with only these two wires?

Welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately what you have there is a switch loop. Power goes to the light. The hot comes to the switch on the white wire and returns back to the light switched on black. That means there is no usable neutral in that box. Without a neutral you can't run a receptacle there.
