Hello I have a rental house with an oven vent fan that just started making a slow grinding noise after it is turned off and spins down. It might be grease build up or something. How would I open the motor box in the exhuast fan? I looked under the vent fan and only see one nut. I'm assuming I unscrew this nut and pull the motor down? I thought I could get a look at the motor by pulling out the mesh screen, but it doesn't seem like it comes out without bending. I want to ask, so that when I start taking it apart I can put it back together right away since it is a rental. Here are photos, with a highlight on the only nut I see. Thank for advice on getting to the motor.

[left]I have a Minka ceiling fan that has a wall controller that controls both the fan and light. I want to rewire the fan and light to let me use a separate switch for the fan and separate switch for the light. The wiring is present in the ceiling for separate switch control as there was with a prior ceiling fan. How can I redo the wiring at the fan to allow e to use the separate wires for the light apart from the fan?[/left]
