Ceiling fan to light fixture wiring
I am replacing a ceiling fan with a light fixture. Ceiling fan was on two wall switches — one for the lights and one (knob) for the motor. When I took the fan down I had 4 sets of wires; black, white, ground, and a blue/red pair. The blue was attached to the fan, so I capped the red assuming it was for the motor. I wired up the new fixture and it will not work. I changed the bulbs so that is not the problem. Any suggestions on what I missed?

blue wire
Ia
I am in a new construction home, so I believe it is cable. Yes, the blue wire was attached to the fan unit and came off when I took down the fan.. I was left with the ground, black, white and red wires. I assumed I was to cap off the red wire, but when I look at the switch box, I have a ground wire connected to a screw, 2 red wires connected to the same screw, and a black wire connected to a screw. Any help is much appreciated!

There is no white wire. There are 3 switches on the wall
plate. The first has no wiring attached to it... just a non-functional Luteon switch. The second is a dimmer switch that controlled the ceiling fan light and the third controlled the ceiling fan motor.

I am thinking I need to hook up the red wire the fixture instead of leaving it capped. Just don’t know if I should cap it with the black or white wire?

I had 4 sets of wires; black, white, ground, and a blue/red pair.
We understand white, black and ground. That signifies an NM type cable.
What is a blue/red pair ???
Is it one wire or two wires ?
It would make sense if it was red.
The light needs to be connected to white and red OR white and black.
The unused wire gets capped off.

Sorry... It was one red and one blue. The blue was part of the ceiling fan unit. So I am left with 4 wires in the ceiling box. The new fixture has 3 wires. I am just not sure what to connect the red wire to. Black? White? Thank you....
